Scouting from home

While face-to-face Scouting is suspended due to the coronavirus, we will be sharing a range of suggested activities for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to give a go at home. So to avoid hearing ‘I’m bored’ every 30 seconds, encourage your child to learn new skills and have some fun in #TheGreatIndoors.

Parents of 1st Barnham Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, keep an eye on your emails or head over to our Scouting from home pages.

Pinks Parlour

It’s October, the nights are drawing in and its starting to get a bit chilly. But it is never too cold for ICE CREAM!

This week our Cub Packs ventured down to Pinks Parlour, Bognor Regis, the home of freshly made Gelato Ice Cream. A big thank you to Little Miss Whippy (aka Georgia) and the team for teaching us how the gelato is made in the Ice Cream Lab, encouraging us to sample some new flavours before serving up a delicious treat of two scoops, a topping and a sauces for everyone 🍨

We have a feeling the Cubs and leaders will want to visit again soon!

Up up and away

33 Beavers from our three colonies all had a fantastic Up up and away Sleepover held on 5th & 6th October 2019.
The action started at Tangmere Aviation Museum where the beavers learnt about the history of the site, how a plane works, the different parts of a plane and looking at all the different planes and items the museum has on display.
After lunch they walked to Oving Village Hall where the air activities continued, learning the phonetic alphabet, creating their own flying machine and much more.
After dinner, we all sang a few campfire songs and watched the film ‘Planes’.
After a few hours sleep the beaver were up early, excited for a morning full of activities include making and flying four different types of paper planes to complete the requirements for the air activities stage 1 badge.

We’re banking on you!

Could you be our next volunteer treasurer?
Ideally you’ll have some book keeping experience, however our current treasurer will show you the ropes and ensure a smooth hand over.
I’ll need 2 or 3 hours per week to undertake admin from home, respond to emails and process payment. Plus occasional trips to the bank and 3 or 4 evening committee meetings per year.
