Share your skills, gain new ones
Week by week, our volunteers empower young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re our everyday heroes. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.
With multiple Beaver Scout Colonies, Cub Scout Packs and Scout Troops, our friendly team is always kept busy, but it’s not always easy to keep up with the demand.
That’s where you come in.
You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages (18+), genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about mini bus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.
Whatever your skill set, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local park, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread for a group of hungry beaver scouts – no two scout activities are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great.
We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life.
Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is.
Some ways in which you could help:
Team leaders. Chief ring-leader and master of adventures, you’ll inspire a small team of volunteers to help you deliver awesome activities. You decide how often you help, but we know you’ll miss us if you can’t attend most weeks.
Team members. Less centre stage but still an essential crew member; games-master, badge-sorter, or tidy-upper – you’ll be up for giving anything a go!
Helpers. You’ll be up for lending a hand now and again. Be it helping on camp, staffing a hike check point or knee deep in glitter, you’ll have an awesome time mucking in and giving anything a go.
Trustees. More at home driving a spreadsheet or review policy and procedures? Join our group trustee board who ensure as a charity we dot the i’s and cross all the t’s.
Supporters. If sailing, kayaking, climbing, cooking, shooting or arts and crafts is your bag, it’ll be awesome if you could share yours skills with our scouts whenever it suits you!
